Connectivity

The weighing indicator connects to the touchscreen pc via RS232. The pc is equipped with Wi-Fi if connectivity to a LAN is required.

  • Stand-alone solution – the UniWin software is installed on the pc itself (Wi-Fi optional)
  • Server solution – the UniWin software is installed on an SQL server and an app is installed on the pc (connection Wi-Fi or ethernet)

Peripherals (e.g. printers, cameras, badge reader, bar code readers) can be connected to the pc via RS232/USB or to the LAN via ethernet (requires Wi-Fi). Optionally, tickets and reports can be sent by email.

Peripherals

Due to UniWin’s unique flexibility, a large variety of peripherals can be connected to the overall system, amongst which:

  • Printers: Various printers can be connected and, in case of the server solution, placed in different working areas. UniWin can print to each printer it’s specific, required format.
  • Cameras: One or more IP cameras can be installed. These can record the load during the time of weighing as prove of the condition of the packaging (damaged or not). These pictures can be emailed to one or more appropriate mailbox(es).
  • Badge/card readers or barcode readers: These can be used to initiate the weighing. E.g. a reader can be set up to start a weighing sequence, avoiding the operator to input his initials. This speeds up the process significantly.

Weighing equipment

The weighing results are interpreted by a weighing indicator, which communicates with the load cells and UniWin. As a result, any scale using load cells can be connected via RS232 or LAN; e.g.

  • S-P-S Warehouse ULD Mover
  • Forklift truck
  • Roller deck
  • Build-up Break-down workstation
  • Floor scale

Legal for trade

All parts delivered by S-P-S Engineering, including UniWin, can be certified “legal for trade”. Therefore, if an existing weighing configuration is already certified, implementing UniWin and other S-P-S components, the whole system can be certified “legal for trade”.
